Help Us Let Ziggy Gonzales Breathe Easy

I am a newborn from the Philippines who's very active, doesn't always cry, but sadly when I do, my body turns dark red to bluish.This also happens when Mama and Papa bathes me. I actually am on oxygen support for virtually 24/7.

I have a difficulty in breathing because of a very rare and serious medical condition called BILATERAL VOCAL CORD PARALYSIS/PARESIS which (according to my dad as what he read in some articles) hits ONLY .75 babies in 1,000,000 births in a year. I breathe laboriously because the 'two doors' of my throat don't open wide enough or close fully. As a result every time my dad feeds me, some of the food go to the 'wrong hole' of my lungs. This makes me prone to lung infections. Both of my parents are all eyes on me every second as I am also at risk of SIDS or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

All these sound horrible but there'd always be hope. The family has been praying for me to eventually preserve my ability to make sounds and communicate verbally as I grow up. With your help, my Daddy JR could help me with my meds, tests, and my daily oxygen requirement. The cause of this disease is unknown.

Right now, I am currently taking some tests including one for my spine to check for possible nerve issues. With continued sustenance, I WILL BE ABLE TO BREATHE EASIER and NOT LOSE MY ABILITY TO TALK AND MAKE SOUNDS with the throat. Because right now, I cause a loud whistling sound (medically they call it stridor) I have four doctors (so far) and they have been giving me lots of tests and are currently taking a conservative treatment at first. But, I am a survivor because my parents always tell me everyday!

The financial help that you can extend will solely be used for my daily sustenance and medical needs. My dad (who is the breadwinner of our family) had almost spent all his savings for me (he already spent six-digits on my first 2 weeks of life). He has also significantly reduced his work load to focus on me and assist my mom's who's recovering from C-Section.

I would be so happy to hopefully meet and see all of you once we get to survive this 'test of faith'. I hope I will have the chance to say this to you when I mature.
