Help us leave my abusive father and migrate to Japan

Hello everyone!

My name is Scarlett, I’m 17 and my mama’s name is Jean, aged 43, isn’t she gorgeous? :’)

I just want my mama to smile again.

Recently it’s been very tough. Everyone knows Singapore is a rich country, but it is extremely stressful when you are from the lower-middle class. My father became an alcoholic and started hitting my mom a few years back after he was retrenched from the office. She cried almost everyday. I could see she was so broken, and I felt sad and helpless too. With the entire family unemployed (my mom is a rare case housewife in Singapore) I had the weight of supporting mama on my shoulders.

I started doing part time (waitress) side-by-side my Psychology studies. I managed to save up a little for the plan I had in mind, but it was not nearly enough.

That is why I need you help!

Mama wants to get a divorce from father, who is constantly howling and strangling her. It pains me. However, he refuses to let her go. A divorce lawyer in Singapore is about 1.2k-1.5k. But I’ve saved enough to cover some parts.

When he’s angry (not even drunk), he would punch her body, careful not to touch her face so others won’t be suspicious.

It requires 3 months for us to get away from him. We will use this 3 months to go into detail planning to immigrate to Yokohama, Japan, as our only trustable relative is there. I have applied for a psychology scholarship program there. My love for Japan since young arised from anime (cliché I know), but mama and I love Japanese cuisine so much! The competitive and highly pressurising life here is too much for a single mom. Our hopes is to migrate to a town area with my aunt where we can have a second chance in a brand new environment.

Japan is so beautiful. Even though the cities are fast paced like Singapore, Japanese have lovely culture and manners, and some places are much more peaceful.

My hobby is painting watercolour landscapes, but I’ve haven’t drawn ever since mama lost her smile. I really hope to drawn beautiful places in Japan when we go there!

Lawyer fees, procedures and taxes would be around $1.2k

Plane tickets for 2 would be around $800

There are problems such trying to extend our visa, as well as lodging, food etc. which will round up to at least $800-$1000 per month. In the mean time I am working very hard to pull in some savings, while my mental health is deteriorating . I sincerely plead for your help in getting out of this hellhole.

I believe everybody has the ability to light someone’s world up. With your kind help, mama and I can do it!

I will work hard and continue my studies in japan, to work towards becoming a psychologist and helping others. Mama wants to be a florist and social worker. To live a peaceful and fruitful life at a new place is all we have always wanted.
