This is Baby Erros, my older sister's son, born prematurely this last July 28, 2019. My sister was roughly almost seven months pregnant when she had bleedings and had to stay at the hospital for four days. During that time she was given medicine that helps strengthen the baby's lungs. Her bleeding subsided and was discharged, but not even a week later she had to go back, this time contractions came along with it. She underwent labor for half a day without her water breaking, but the baby's heartbeat continued to weaken so the doctors decided that she had to undergo a cesarean procedure.
Born with very visible deformities, he was diagnosed with Trisomy 18, more commonly known as Edwards Syndrome, a genetic disorder affecting many parts of the body. He was manually pumped for over two hours before they transferred him to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The doctors are still running tests and are doing their best with everything, but Erros has to stay in an incubator with all kinds of life support attached to it. We can only imagine what will happen if anything fails, and we are preparing for it, but my sister still hasn't seen her son as she is still confined and recovering from surgery.
We want to at least prolong his time here with us, at least let his mommy hold him, but we can not carry this all by ourselves. So we are asking for your help. To, even if just a little bit, let him know and feel that he is loved, that we are not giving up on him, that this fight is not just his. This little angel is a fighter, and any help on his battle counts.
