Campaign Story
In less than 2 weeks, Steven and I will be volunteering in a school in Wattamim village (just outside Battambang City) in Cambodia for two weeks.
It is called AKD - the Association for Knowledge Development. It is a free English school designed to teach underprivileged Children. Children who don’t speak English cannot progress through to higher education or enjoy higher paying jobs. Despite this, government schools teach very little English and many teachers charge a high price for extra hours of learning. Most families cannot afford these prices and therefore the child’s education suffers. Kamnat, the director, set up the school in 2005; he himself dropped out of school when he was 7 as his family couldn’t afford the fees. At 16 he became a monk, studied for 10 years and set up the school. He now lives at the school itself with his family and they spend their time investing in these ~200 kids (and the teachers/volunteers).
We kindly ask you to help us help them by making any donation, no matter how small. Along with our time, we to will be both making a donation to the cause. We assure you this will give them a better education and thus a better life.
