Greetings of peace and solidarity!
I am Judd P. Tablazon, a Filipino researcher working for the Department of Science and Technology – Nationwide Operational Assessment of Hazards (DOST – Project NOAH). We collaborate with government agencies to promote and integrate advanced science and technology to enhance disaster management and prevention capacity of the Philippine government.
Our research team recently submitted five research papers and were accepted to the European Geosciences Union 2014 (http://www.egu2014.eu/):
"Developing an early warning system for storm surge inundation in the Philippines"
"Identification of Storm Surge Vulnerable Areas in the Philippines Through Simulations of Typhoon Haiyan-Induced Storm Surge Using Tracks of Historical Tropical Cyclones"
"Assessment of Storm Surge Forecasting Methods Used During Typhoon Haiyan"
"Development of Inundation Map for Bantayan Island, Cebu Using Delft3D-Flow Storm Surge Simulations of Typhoon Haiyan"
"Storm Surge Modelling of Super Typhoon Haiyan Event in Tacloban City, Leyte using MIKE 21 Model"
We will be presenting these studies through an oral presentation in Vienna, Austria on April 27 to May 2, 2014. However, due to budget constraints, we do not have funding for our airfare, accommodation, and registration expenses to the said conference.
In this regard, we would like to seek financial assistance from you that will help us represent the Philippines in this scientific endeavor. Any amount of help will be very much appreciated. We would very much want to represent the Philippines in this event so as to contribute to the advancement of science and technology in the quest to save lives.
Thank you very much for your cooperation and generous support to our project. If you have questions about this request, please do not hesitate to email me at [email protected].
