Help Us Give Ron Cirujano a Fitting Memorial

When Ron (or Gob to his friends, and Gie to his family) was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 2 years ago, he was adamant in keeping it a secret — only allowing his family and a few choice friends to know about his condition. For the years since then, he remained active at work and in taking care of his family.

He travelled around the Philippines and beyond to help Filipinos discover, understand, and take advantage of the opportunities online freelancing offers. Even as his health deteriorated, and as negative speculations about his appearance emerged, he remained silent and steadfast in his dedication to his work. He spent the last months of his life trying to ensure that his mother, his wife, and their son do not feel the negative impact cancer does to a family’s finances.

We, his friends and family, want to give back to the selflessness Ron displayed during the final years of his life. Help us give him a tribute proper to his legacy. We want to ease the difficulty of this tough time by allowing his family to mourn him without worrying about money. Any amount would help. Thank you very much!

Ron Cirujano joined Upwork as country manager for the Philippines in March 2013 and is responsible for Upwork's activities within the country. He has more than ten years of experience in marketing, both online and offline. Prior to joining Upwork, Ron was the marketing head of an international company that operates in the Philippines; he handled their global online campaigns with a focus on social media, pay per click, and search engine optimization.
