Mohammad. 28 years old, from Jerusalem. needs your help to pay the first down payment for his private house, and here is why as he tell the story:

Since 2014. My life has almost completely changed. That year, a racist group burned a Jerusalemite child, which led to huge demonstrations taking place against a campaign of arrests carried out against young Jerusalemite men, including myself; I was arrested for more than a year. After that date, I decided not to work in Jerusalem and move to Ramallah, specifically Birzeit, knowing that I will be making much less money, but it might be relatively safer. I decided to resign from being employed and establish a small business that enables me to move forward in life.

After my release from jail, I finished my bachelor's degree and moved to complete my master's degree at the same university because I was prevented from traveling outside Palestine.

Why this amount is required? in Palestine purchasing a house passes through two ways, either to enter into bank loans and this means taxes and interest rates increase, etc .. or through donations. and most home sellers in our region are requesting a first big payment "pre-pay", it is like renting a house for a period of time until the payments you owe are fully paid which takes approximately up to 10 years, According to the agreement of monthly payments.

Currently, I operate a small restaurant that makes Palestinian traditional food, like Maqlouba, Musakhan, and so on in a small town called Berziet, and after I pay its rent and its expenses only a little is left for my own rent, daily expenses and almost none is left for my future.

There are no employees but me. I run it on my own, I clean, cook, serve and so on. trying to provide a safe space for all. specifically, when it comes to charities, I offer many free meals monthly.

Since my prices are affordable, I know most people can't even afford a meal here i try my best to help them and sometimes I don't charge them at all, even if the financial situation is bad in my case, I know that I can help and I will always do.

I did not despair and I still want to chase my dreams and not let the financial situation stop me.

Recently, my father had a brain stroke and he can no longer work. Being an only child, I now have to fully support him, my mother and their increasing medical expenses.

Since I am a grad student with tuition fees of almost 1500$ per semester for my masters in gender studies and development, renting a house for 250$ where I live now in Ramallah, 600$ for the restaurant. renting my parents’ house for another 600$ in Jerusalem for my parents.

All these expenses mean that the savings that I think in this situation is lost and can not be achieved. working over 15 hours a day in a deeply disturbing economical environment.

I need to buy this house to at least be able to find a little stability and stop paying the big amounts of money that I pay; with this amount, I can put together a good monthly mortgage payment, and things could get easier bit by bit.

Shukran.
