Hi My name is Liz, I am a mother of 3 kids and a wife of a hardworking husband. Currently living in the Philippines.

Our rent cost $120 yet we couldn't afford it
our groceries are less than $80 per month. We hardly do groceries
our daily food allowance is less than $5 and it's so hard to maintain it.

Living in our country is never easy to a minimum wage earner like me and my husband. No matter how hard we work, how many overtime hours we took, we hardly have our end met from pay check to paycheck. we are renting since 2010 that's where the bill filled up and we are deep in debt.

In 2014 my husband had an accident at work that leads us into more debt since he was laid off from work for 5 months and i am the only one working. No financial support from his company aside from his medical bills and medicine. This situation force us to live under with her parents house since we could not afford to pay the rent.

After a year my husband get back from work so we decided to rent again. We work hard together to pay off our debts, Then year 2018 my husband decided to apply as cook for cruise ship company and luckily got hired. He got his first contract last year June of 2019.So we took our chance and loan money from a friend so we can pay for his plane ticket from Philippines to New jersey since his ships port is at fort Lauderdale.

We had plans, our first goal is to pay our debt and then buy a house so that we won't worry that our children lose their home again. Before he left for his first contract as seaman, I need to resign from work so I could take care my three kids. We were doing fine. Taking one step at a time. I started working from home as a real estate cold caller for a US client.

And then, Pandemic happened! My husband finished his 8 months contract went home in February 2020 just before our president put the city on lockdown on march 17 2020.

With only 1 month salary left in his pocket and still has some debt untouched we are barely surviving. I got laid off from job since my client is in US and they are also on lockdown. After a month without a job we are loosing hope. I am hoping to get a remote job again so we could sustain our daily expenses. Luckily after a month of sending applications online, I landed a job offer for a real estate campaign also for a US based client.

My husband has a second contract and was supposed to take effect on May 2020 but his contract was cancelled due to pandemic. In July, after missing 4 months of rent we got notice to vacate the house, we made an agreement to pay in installment. another debt added to pay, yet no stable income. My husband has indefinite contract with his employer since cruise ship is not yet allowed to sail. With him having no work for the last 8 months is very frustrating.

We only wanted a permanent house to live in, we never thought that could be so hard to achieve.

We wished for a stable job to sustain our needs and we never thought that would be so hard to fulfil until this pandemic happen.

With me working for a real estate campaign with a daily task of sending offers to home owners offering to buy their house is a bit dreamy, keeps my hope up that one of these days I can buy a house of our own.

I'm really just hoping to try and accumulate enough to settle my outstanding debt and cover a deposit for a house we are buying and we can take care of the monthly mortgage.

If you are reading up to here, I would like to thank you for your time and wishing you good health. Stay safe.
