This baby forest buffalo just entered the sanctuary... She is about 4 months old, her mother was killed and her face is full of scars. This big baby still needs A LOT of milk! Not any milk will do, she needs special milk just for livestock / ruminants. This type of milk can not be found in Liberia. We have to buy it abroad and have it sent to Liberia, making every bottle very expensive...

So any donation is very much appreciated and will help us get this boy back on track!

Thank you!

In this basket, was a serpent eagle, ready to be sold. He also had a rope tied around his wing... He was confiscated by authorities and was brought to the sanctuary and is now recovering from his terrible ordeal! πŸ¦…πŸ¦…πŸ¦…πŸ¦…πŸ¦…πŸ¦…πŸ¦…πŸ¦…πŸ¦…πŸ¦…

Our fundraiser ends next week. So there are 7 more days to support our campaign! πŸ˜‰

These extra funds will be used to cover some of the costs of feeding our ever growing group of monkeys. It would give us a break in constantly making ends meet at the end of the month.

All our monkeys are orphans and were rescued from the illegal bushmeat and pet trade in Liberia.

Please help us give them the nutritious diet they so desperately need and deserve!

Thank You!

Julie

Monkeys just keep coming in...

This week a Lesser Spot-Nosed Monkey and yet another Sooty Mangabey were brought to the sanctuary...

This baby Spot Nosed Monkey (Cercopithecus petaurista) was being sold on a local market and was used as a toy by small children.

He has an injury to the tail and is very overwhelmed by the whole experience, but should recover quickly.

With 2 extra mouths to feed, every (small) donation already makes a difference!

Thank you to everyone who donated so far! :)

X

This is what this fundraiser is all about: providing healthy and nutritious food to our rescued monkeys!

In the wild, their diet consists of fruits, stems, grasses, roots, leaves, buds, flowers and insects.

At the sanctuary, they get grasses to eat 3 times a week. It takes them hours to strip the outside layer to get to the sweet inside and makes great enrichment!

They also love casave and sweet potato leaves!

We add fruits and vegetables to their diet such as bananas, plantain, pineapples, oranges, apples, Bush apples, mango, papaya, melon, soursop, lettuce, tomato, eggplant, cucumber and sweet potato.

The costs for all these delicious foods can run up to US$100 or more a week!

That's why we can use your help!

Your contribution can give us that extra push to provide a delicious meal to our monkeys 3 times a day!

Every little bit counts!

On behalf of the monkeys: THANK YOU!

Let me intrduce to you: Sweep! :)

Sweep ,a Sooty Mangabey (Cercocebus atys), is about 2 years old and is a victim of the illegal bushmeat and pet trade. At a very young age, he was taken from his mother (who was killed) and was sold to become someones pet.

For 2 years, he lived a miserable life on a short 1m rope, away from his family. He was also fed a poor diet of rice and very little to no fruits or vegetables.

When he arrived, his coat looked scruffy and he seemed a bit skinny. His head was bald because of malnourishment. There were also scars and markings on his hips where the rope used to be (as seen in the pics below). He suffered from stereotypical behavior and was very nervous.

Now, thanks to a nutricious and well balanced diet, his coat looks great and he is enjoying the company of other monkeys that were confiscated!

Sweep is only one of our 14 monkeys. In a perfect world, our monkeys should eat 3 times a day. To do that we need A LOT of fruits, vegetables, seeds and greens!

If you want to help a monkey like Sweep, please donate! Many more monkeys like Sweep are still suffering on a chain or a rope. We hope they will arrive at the sanctuary and we hope we can nurse them back to heath, just like we did with him!

Sweep says THANK YOU!! <3
