HELP US DEMONSTRATE SCIENCE IN REMOTE SCIENCE.

Hello everyone,

My name is Francis Mulenga. I am a Science communicator from Zambia. I tour especially rural schools to voluntarily Demonstrate science among disadvantaged schools with limited resources.

Having toured most rural schools where I demonstrated science, I can sadly confirm that some children in remote schools are far from having an experience of practical science and have never seen an actual experiment done. Their learning of science is entirely 'chalk and talk'.

The children's reactions to each science demonstration I do for them have been out of this world. It is a clear win of their hearts and passion for science. Children right away become curious enough to find out what happens in science. It becomes fun for them though learning is always at the center. I also organise science exhibitions in collaboration with different countries where Zambian children get a platform to show their innovations in science.

However, it has become a challenge for me to continue currently due to my inability to manage costs associated with travel. I need to secure funds for transport, accommodation and a few other logistical costs to cover to reach out to schools. I donate my time.

To start science outreach in 2023, Franzy Science has planned a science tour to be conducted during the first quarter of 2023. The tour will target 40 schools and and 80 000 learners.

(I) The funds will cover :

Hiring of the car to move among the schools to be toured.

(ii) Covering accomodation costs during the tour.

(iii). Covering meals for

the facilitator and helpers to be involved at a particular time.

Note: Receipts and all aquital sheets will be availed to all the contributors to this cause.

On each day of the Science Circus tour, I will visit at least three schools, interacting with over 7 000 learners learners per school( Zambian Schools have massive populatio). I engage more than 10

1, 500 learners in a single Science Circus tour. I plan to visit fourty schools in my first science Circus of 2023, which will start immediately once funds are available. My coming tour will also include printing some handbooks on how teachers can improvise science teaching aids by making their own using modest material - the books will be printed and donated among rural schools. The book was written by me and students from the Australian National University. This book will serve as a solution to the lack of laboratory equipment among schools. The tour will also include science shows where I will do hands-on experiments for learners and teachers.

In this regard, I ask for any contribution to support this noble work. I am forever grateful for any help you can provide and it will bring joy and learning to many youth in Zambia. Please spread the word :)

Sincerely

Francis Mulenga"
