Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
- MARK TWAIN
Hi there!
Me and my partner, have decided to cycle to New Zealand in aid of the thousands of currently displaced and vulnerable refugee children. We feel at this point in our lives when we have no real responsibilities or ties, we should take to the road to do what we believe in. We want to see the world and its people with our own eyes and help whoever we can along the way.
We plan to leave a year from now and stop at many of the refugee camps throughout Europe. We will film and document our whole journey to help spread awareness of what we find along the way.
We are both currently working full-time in Dorset - trying our best to raise enough money for the trip. But before we can set off we need to buy some serious gear so that we can survive up to two years on the road. We will have the absolute bare minimum but unfortunately it's all pretty expensive.
We will happily do the trip itself on a shoe string but we need to get a good tent, stove, sleeping bags and matts etc. So far we have both got our indestructible Thorn bikes but that's about it!
We decided to make this Go Get Funding campaign because it's proving really difficult to raise all the money we need on our own. So we thought we might ask our close family and friends, good people of the world, and the universe for a little help.
As soon as we have the equipment we need, we will transfer any remaining money into our charity page (which will be set up shortly). We will create this separate 'Just Giving' charity site for the sponsorship money we hope to raise and all this money will go directly to refugee children. Anyone who contributes to this fundraising page will get notified by us when our charity site is up and running. We are yet to choose the best charity for our cause but keep looking and comparing different ones to find the organisation that provides the most direct help.
If you can give anything, no matter how small, you will be helping to fund our dream - that in turn will help some of the most vulnerable people in the world right now.
Thanks so much for whatever support you can give,
Even if that's just a good wish for the way!
Love to all,
Molly & Haydn
p.s. We are so so humbled and amazed at this brilliant response! THANK YOU so much everyone who is supporting us! We have raised the goal as we never imagined we would raise that much and the previous amount doesn't cover our equipment we just hoped it would help towards it. But WOW! Thank you so much everyone - we are so excited !! xxx
