Help Us Come Home

Three years ago, we moved to Germany from the United States. Me, my wife, our son, and our service dog. Until this year, we managed to remain fairly stable. However, things took a serious turn. My wife lost her job at the end of December due to her health issues preventing her from being able to work. I lost my job in March due to the effects of the coronavirus. At the end of April, we had to move out of the vacation home we were living in because someone else had it booked for May. We originally wanted to move to the UK, but because everything slowed down from the virus, we couldn't find another place to live, so we were left with no other option but to move to a campground. We've been living here for almost two months now and things haven't gotten any better. My unemployment benefits were less than 600 euros last month and I have no idea when the rest is supposed to arrive and our monthly child stipend was canceled after February and despite me sending everything in. We still haven't received it, and that's two hundred euros per month we're missing. The bank has also misplaced one hundred fifty euros of ours, which they say they can't get back. The bushes next to our campsite has a family of rats which we can hear and sometimes feel every night when they come out. And, on top of all of this, our car doesn't work, so every time we have errands to run, we need to take a bus or train, which adds up. And when we do have to go out, one of us has to stay behind because the last time all of us went out, someone stole two sleeves of pills from inside my wife's side of the tent. Everything has just piled on top of us too quickly to get our heads above the surface. We thought the government would be able to help us to go back, but it turns out that service is reserved for refugees, which we are not. As of right now, we're trapped here. We can't leave on our own and we've used every resource we have here to no avail. And we can't be here much longer because if we're still in the campsite and we don't have an actual place to live by the time the new school year starts, they will take our son away from us under the assumption that we are negligent parents. They're expecting us to provide adequate housing and living conditions, but will not provide us the means to do so because the unemployment benefits of ours have been withheld, save for one quarter of what we were supposed to receive. We just want to go home. Please help us before it's too late.
