Help us building library for street children in Jakarta, Indonesia

Around 3 years ago, my friend brings me to his community. He is living under the bridge, with another 120 families. Most of their jobs are as the trash collector, gathering plastic, paper, and metal. Their welfare is really bad, with an average of income for families around 5$/day.

Despite all the hardship they went through, the children are smiling so brightly while gazing at the future. I am instantly falling in love with them. Then I started to asked my friends in school to gather book for them. We are going there every week to teach them how to read, do arts, and anything that we could to accompany them to learn.

We are turning one of the plywood walled room there as a library. But alas, when the great Jakarta flood happened in 2017, their home, which is by the river, is completely submerged. Our humble library and its collection are destroyed. Now we are having a plan to rent a house right next to their community as library and learning center.

We have a plan to make it into community space, with classroom and computer with internet access. As now we are expanding our network of volunteers to gather the lecturer. For the class, both for children and adult, that we are planning to hold there is:

- Reading and Writing class

- English and Math class

- Handicraft class to turn the trash around them into arts with a sale value

- And many more special guest lecturer to teach applicable training such as Electronic and Electricity class
