HELP US BUILD THE FIRST ORTHODOX CHURCH

IN THE NORTHERNMOST CAPITAL OF THE
WORLD - REYKJAVÍK!

The Parish of Saint Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church in Reykjavík, Iceland is the only Orthodox parish in the country where regular services are held.

At the moment, we use to gather for services in the home church which we have equipped ourselves on the ground floor of a rented private house. All our efforts are focused on building the FIRST Orthodox Church in Iceland in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, Archbishop of Myra in Lycia.

We, the community of believers here in Iceland, are in great need of our own place to worship!
We truly need a much bigger place for worship because our community consists of people who constantly settle down in Iceland from many countries all over the world and who are seeking to be in the house of God because it makes them feel outter space and outter time.

Our church is the place where we truly feel like home, sorrounded by family.

The church house has also been an important tourist attraction for many pilgrims visiting Iceland.

In 2011, the parish community was allocated a site for the construction of the church.

We are collecting a total ammount of 4.500.000 EURO, the funds are exclusively destined for the entire building process of the Church : documentation, workers, services, renting of special machines, tools, construction materials and everything else that a construction of a church requires.

But we urgently need to raise 200.000 EURO

to be able to make the construction drawings (Planning Phase) and to get , as soon as possible, the permission to start constructing (Execution/Implementation Phase) in order to preserve our land, the site allocated to us by the icelandic authorities for the construction of the temple.

The construction work must start in January 2020 at the very latest, otherwise we are in danger of losing our given land for that purpose and our chance to have a church.

Also, we are in danger of having to move from the house we are renting right now for a very convenient price, at any time, because the landlord intends to sell it and has already got potential buyers visiting the house.

A new rent would mean a higher renting price for us and also expenses that we truly can not afford.
