Help us build a high school in Playa Chiquita

Our mission for this year at the Playa Chiquita School is to build our own high school to serve the children of our community. We want to create a safe and harmonious space that cares about our adolescent community and give a future to our teens who have been abandoned educationally for far too long.

Currently there is NO high school in our area. Once the children reach seventh grade, they are forced to travel long distances to attend schools in neighboring communities. These bus rides take 1-2 hours each way. They present a serious cost increase for families and are also very tiring for students, leaving many feeling demotivated toward their education in general.

The Playa Chiquita school is a multicultural elementary school in the south Caribbean that provides education to more than 80 students. We are a nationally accredited school with classes from pre-kindergarten to sixth grade. The school is a non-profit association with an affordable tuition that caters to local families and expatriates.

Phase 1 of our project would include classrooms for seventh, eighth and ninth grades, two restrooms, a lunch area, and a teachers' room. Construction would take into consideration the subsequent integration of Phase 2, which would include classrooms for grades 10 and 11 and extra rooms for extracurricular activities and common spaces.

This school will serve generations to come and will be the foundation for the growth of our area. Quality schools benefit everyone in the community, whether or not they have children. Investing in children is investing in the future and our young people deserve a safe space where they can study and prepare for university and their future.
