Our Story

It started when my niece was diagnosed with dengue (There was a dengue outbreak in our country: https://www.aljazeera.com/amp/news/2019/09/philipp...) so severe she had to stay in the hospital for two weeks (mostly inside ICU). Our family had to exhaust all our savings and still wasn't enough and it was very unfortunate that she did not have health plans or insurance (We've been declined financial assistance from government as well, and we didn't know why).

She's recovered well now but the amount of debts we incurred have gone off charts. This all happened after I lost my job and until now, couldn't land one, I had to live with my parents again and even stop paying my insurance. My sister and brother-in-law both work to provide for their family. My father (who still had to work despite his age) earns barely enough for our monthly bills and our debts are still piling with interests and penalties. Even our relatives have sent help and still wasn't enough.

Though still on-going job hunt, I find time to earn a little on the side just to help ease our life, but these debts are getting us nowhere. Not even banks would approve loans or debt relief. So, I decided to make this campaign.

This favor would mean a lot for our family as we've been struggling so much and I couldn't help but cry over the fact that I couldn't do much about it. Your help, no matter how big or small, is greatly appreciated.

How will the fund be used?

Every penny will solely be used to pay the medical bills. And since time isn't on our side, each time a help arrives, we tried to clear as much as we could. So, I will be posting the bills to give updates from time to time to prove that your trust in us is highly regarded.

My advocacy

It's my dream to be able to help others but as I am now, it's sad that I am the one in need of help. I have been involved in several charity missions and have participated in lots of fundraising events before, but I never imagined that I'll be doing this for my family as well. I had to accept that these things really do happen. Surely, I will not stop doing these things to help others despite our circumstances to repay all the kindness I have received or will receive in the future.

A little penny or a share is already a big help. Thank you so much for your support!

Update - Dec 1, 2019

Update posted by Jay D Abilar at 03:29 am

Hi to all. As of Nov 30 (the supposed due dates), we were only able to pay around Php15000 (us$300), and are now facing overdues.I was able to get a job now, but my first pay will be on end of December, so it wouldn't be of much help now.
