www.connooga.com Connooga is a multi fandom convention held in Chattanooga, Tennessee that my kids and I attend every year. Due to my low wages and single parenthood it's the only "vacation" we get to have in the year. The last couple of months, however, we've experienced one catastrophic financial event after another and the whole time the kids never whined or complained. They've been supportive and loving and it breaks my heart to have to tell them no to something because we can't afford it. The convention is something they look forward to all year. Making plans, making costumes (that never really work out), and just looking forward to fun times. They get great grades and have great attitudes and are just all around awesome kids. I've already had to postpone christmas presents, birthday presents, and other fun things for them in the interest of saving money and they've taken every bit of bad news in stride and with loving support. Here's a small list of what's happened in the last couple of months: Valve in car busted; repaired Fuel pump in car busted: repaired useing money saved for rent Informed landlord that I'd be late with December rent (never been late in the 18 months we'd stayed there); She immediately evicted us and is currently sueing me for an ungodly amount of money. Stil in the courts. Moved out and found a new place which is always incredibly expensive. Aw, tax time! Usually a great time for single parents. Filed my taxes and turns out someone else has used the kids' socials. Now I have to wait on the IRS to figure out I've been claiming them for the last 17 years which will take forever! It's what I usually use for Connooga and paying off debts I accrue through the year. Flat tire on the highway last night! Arg! I hate to have to resort to asking for money on the internet, but here we are. Any little bit would help and thanks for reading this far. P.S. The kids don't know I'm doing this and would probably be mortified. They'd still be loving and supportive, though. They're the best!
