Hi everyone! My name is Uliana Mikhed, and I am sixteen years old. Most recently I competed in the Youth American Grand Prix Ballet Competition in San Francisco just this month. I acquired the 3rd Place in the Senior category (out of 100+ People participating) and was selected to go to the Finals in New York! I look forward to be able to attend, with the hopes to place at the top of this competition! Participating in YAGP Finals in NY would be a dream of mine and will open up many opportunities for me, not only this year, but also the upcoming years. I am very passionate about ballet and have been since the age of five. This opportunity and the forthcoming ones will help greatly to shape my career as a ballerina. This will increase my chances to be accepted to professional dance academies, to acquire scholarships for college and many other opportunities. With your love and support I can make it there to NY to show my skills to a greater audience and professionals.
However, my family is on a fixed budget, and even getting the plane ticket from Los Angeles to New York would be hard enough. Not mentioning the travel expenses, hotel fares, pointe shoes, ballet outfit, and being away from work for a full week. Both of my parents work full-time to keep a roof over my sister’s and my head, and have been very supportive of my ballet pursuit doing absolutely everything possible to further my passion. As a full time AP high school student, I, too, have been contributing myself financially to help supplement my ballet career while working as a dancer, and teacher to young ballerinas. Any donations would help, small or large that could help me reach my goal. This opportunity means the world to me, and I would be extremely grateful and appreciative of any support or interest in this journey. Thank you!
