Help treating souls of cancer patients

Hello world! I want to introduce myself. I’m Ruta, 27 years old and I’m volunteer. I volunteering in the Hospital of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Kaunas Clinics, Oncology and Hematology Clinic with adults which have cancer. In my country a lot of attention is given to children who have cancer. In Lithuania their families are supported too. We have charity and support funds, but unfortunately a not enough attention to adults with cancer. I can’t control and change things, which it’s not up to me, but my goal to create some simple, positive moments, while they are in hospital and gets their treatment. Some of them stays in the hospital for weeks, without families, friends. The reason is that their relatives live so far away and can’t come visit often. Scientific articles says that people need good emotions, because it makes easier treatment. Cancer isn’t just physical body illness, it is also spirit illness. I volunteering more than 2 years. During that time I met people who shared their talents with patients. Let me tell you what I done until now. I have opportunity do some projects for patients. We have “Beauty day”. This event is happening every two months. Not every women have a bald head, some of them with hairs. When you sick and get chemotheraphy, most of the time you can’t be in places where is too many people, because of weakened immunity, this is the risk of getting an infection, most the time you just haven’t strength even getting up from the bed. One more event is “Henna Crowns”. I invited Henna artist to paint “crowns” or something similar on bald head. After all events every time peopls asks „When will we come next time?“. I then you realize, how it’s important to them. They have hard chemotheraphy courses. But after events like this they go out with a smiles on their faces. It looks like a meeting of good friends. People has cancer, comes to one place. They are fighters, survivors and of course their families. They all sharies stories, gives advises and just having fun.

So I decided to write my story here, because I have many ideas what can I help people with cancer, but i can't do that alone. Also If you are interested collaborate or just say something, please send me a message.

When you have cancer you don’t know how much time you have. So you need take all from the word and have time of your life.
