Tofu is a 2 year 8 month old cat that I adopted. He came from a household who were unable to look after him, and ended up neglecting him. When he first came home, he was flea infested and had mites in his ears. He was also very timid. However over time he grew to trust us and became a wonderful addition to the house. 4 weeks ago, Tofu started having some difficulty going to the toilet. He was unable to urinate and was in considerable distress. Then blood started appearing in his urine. We brought him to the vet immediately and they did ultrasounds, urine testing on him, which found that there were sediments obstructing his entire urethra. He then had to do a procedure to unblock his urethra and he had to stay in hospital for 3 days. This amounted to $1365.10.
We thought that the worst was over when we brought Tofu home as he got better. However, 1 day ago, he started having the same symptoms as he did 4 weeks ago. And then there was blood in his urine once again. He was in considerable distress the whole day, being unable to sit down and was crying. So we sent him to the vet again and discovered that for some reason the sediments grew back and he had to do another procedure. As the vet required that he be admitted for 5 days, the quoted fees was $1500 + $200 for the X-ray done for him, which brings the total up to almost $2k.
Tofu is very precious to us and we can’t abandon him now just because he is sick. However it has been very hard on us financially and we really would like to see if anyone could be kind enough to help. Any small amount would make a great difference.
