Help to Rebuild the park

Who We Are:

I am part of a group of 6 teenagers in the age range of 15 to 17. I am 16 and the team leader. We are all donating our time because we have pretty good lives and we want to help children to make sure that they are able to have nice lives as well. We have been donating our time for the whole summer including community projects and we also serve lunches to kids in places that wouldn’t be able to eat because they aren’t in school and that is the only way that they are eating at lunch time. We get the food from our own houses or some food banks and grocery stores give us food. We have focused on a trailer park with approx. 40 kids. We have decided that we want to help the kids rebuild and remodel their park. The park is run down and not really used because it is not very functional. We do not want these kids to join gangs and if we can show them that people care about them and that the park can be fun then we can prevent kids in jail.

OUR MISSION AND PLANS:

We are all going to work on the park for free but our problem is that we can not get the money for all of the materials. We have asked local businesses and hardware stores for help and none of them are cooperative so we have to come up with the money ourselves. We then asked the manager of the trailer park to direct us to the owner. We asked him to help us out in any way and he completely turned us down saying “It looks fine.” We are going to spend two days to fix up the park. We are going to rebuild the stuff that we can and we are going to replace the rest of the stuff. The merry go round is going to be painted and the swing set is going to be replaced with a nicer and more up to date swing set. The basketball hoops are on metal bases so we are just going to replace the top of the basketball hoops. We are then going to build some benches for the kids and parents. We are going to hold some raffles and competitions at the end of the remodel. We are going to give away four bicycles. Two for girls and two for boys.

What we are going to do with the money:

The money that we raise is going to be used to pay for all of the materials that we have to get for the remodel. If we do not reach the full amount of donations then we are going to focus on remodeling the park first and if we do not raise enough money for the bikes then we will unfortunately not be able to give those away.
