After undergoing multiple heart surgeries, he still struggling to survive

On June 27, 2019, 25 days after baby Peter’s birth, he was baptized in the ICU. His parents, Sapna and Lazarus, quietly witnessed the holy ceremony as the Father welcomed their little one to Christianity.

“Soon after our baby’s birth, we were told that his heart is weak. A week later, he underwent open-heart surgery and was kept on the ventilator. We were scared of losing our child. We called the Father and sought Jesus’ blessings,” recalls Sapna, Peter’s mother.

It was a tough ride for the parents as their little one underwent two major heart surgeries in the span of just six months. Finally, after weeks of care and treatment, their baby won over his fatal disease.
Peter grew up as a loving and playful child. He loved colors. He would spend hours dipping his hands in colors and making his handprints on paper.

But last month, everything went downhill. Sapna and Lazarus’ lives took a steep turn again when their son suddenly fell sick. He kept complaining of stomach ache and stopped eating. The parents gave him medicines, but as days passed, even his stomach began swelling.

A friend suggested taking Peter to a good hospital where they discover that their baby is suffering from high-risk neuroblastoma, cancer that develops from immature nerve cells found in several areas of the body.

“Our lives had come to a standstill. Our baby had already suffered so much since his birth. Just when he was getting better, our nightmare was back and was more terrifying,” Lazarus says.

His son’s chemotherapy was started immediately, but even after two sessions, his health is not improving.

Only a long, expensive treatment can save him now.

The doctors have informed that he needs chemotherapy followed by surgery and radiotherapy. His treatment will cost USD 45,000.00, an amount his poor parents can’t afford.

“Life has been very unfair to my child. Cancer has deprived him of all happiness. Despite that, he keeps smiling. I wish we were capable enough to end his sufferings,” Sapna says, as her eyes well up.
“We will be left with his handprints if he doesn’t get the treatment urgently,” she cries.

With each passing day, Peter’s health is only worsening. He has become extremely weak. He just keeps crying in pain.

On the other hand, his parents’ grief is unimaginable. They have tried all the avenues to raise money for their son’s treatment but to no avail. Now they can just pray to Jesus to heal their child and wait for strangers’ kindness.
