OPAL and HOPE, two small dogs came to The Bark Ark some months ago. Now they get the great opportunity to go and see what´s that LIFE is looking like. A life without kennel, a life with walks and playing, a life with their own families, a life with snoring on the sofa or running through the garden for a whole day. They don´t know that kind of life, they only know the hardships of surviving on the streets as stray dogs or waiting bored behind the bars of a kennel to be adopted.
It is their chance now! We just need to help them! The awesome organisation Mattie´s Dream in Belgium has homes / fosters for our sweethearts waiting. Their bags are packed, their papers are up to date.
OPAL was rescued by Bojan from a vast area of Bosnia of many many square kilometers where back in 1992, the Serbian Army created a corridor to Serbia, a tank division rolled through and levelled everything to the ground. People never returned there and has been deserted for over 25 years apart from Natures overgrowth swallowing up the remains of houses in an unfriendly terrain. NOW IT IS JUST A VERY POPULAR PLACE FOR DUMPING UNWANTED DOGS. There was no food source or water, so probably Opal had her first meal in a long time when she came to The Bark Ark. But look at her now. About to become a spoiled pet.
HOPE is the black little girl. She came to The Bark Ark when she was very young. Shortly after that she got very sick. Bojan wrote: "I have been fighting for this young girl's life for an entire week. she stopped eating, has a very bad dhiarea, loosing weight... But her high spirit and a will to live is also driving me to fight for her life. Vets in Banja Luka did a blood exam and it looks terrible. She has a massive infection of "some kind". They did a distemper test and it is negative. Doesnt look live parvo either. Now she is under heavy therapy every day. With usuall antibiotics and IV's "juices" she is receiving constant medication for dhiarea and her stomach function. The strangest thing...she is crazy about meat. And she only wants to eat meat. RAW. Nothing else, even cat wet food, will go down her throat. Basically I think she will make it but it takes tome and a lot of work. She is in my home." HOPE revovered with Bojan´s help and is a happy dog now!
