THANK YOU for reading my story!

Being the primary breadwinner, a single mom to two and the caretaker to a younger sister, I’m not normally used to asking others for help. With no parental or family support, I’ve always been the one whom everyone else has leaned on for support and somehow, I’ve always managed to make sure they were always taken care of; even if it meant putting their needs before my own.

Always having the desire to be a nurse, I began my career in the medical field as a medical assistant. In 2001 I enlisted in the U. S Navy which was attached to a Marine Squadron and provided all the medical care and flight readiness for the pilots. In this time my passion for wanting to further my career in the medical industry grew and I knew I wanted to go back to school and get my bachelors and finally become a nurse so that I can continue helping others.

I enrolled into a nursing program and due to unforseen family circumstances I had to leave the program. Unfortunately this meant I had to start all over again at a new school, which means I've exhausted most of my financial aid.

This new program itself costs $114,000

With personal loans, GI Bill and grants I have been able to cover more than half of my tuition on my own.  I'm going to be entering my last year and I've already exhausted all the federal aid and grants possible for this program. I have a remaining balance of $50,000 to cover to help me complete the program.

I will be honest, this set back is devastating to me because financially, I’ve already exhausted most of my G.I bill at my previous college and I won’t have the necessary funds to complete my courses. Over the past few years, I’ve sacrificed so much and I’m not a quitter. However, I’m worried that if I don’t come up with my portion of the tuition for my current college, I won’t be able to finish and once again I will have to figure out a way to start again for a third time.

I know with all my training, dedication and experience, I’m going to become a phenomenal nurse.

I want to be able to provide a better life for my myself and my children and show them you never give up on your dreams, no matter what obstacles you face.

Although the school will allow me to make montlhy payments of the $50,000 (broken down over the next 3 1/2 semesters) Having to pay over $1,000 per month for a tuition payment is more than I can handle on a single parent income.  ANY amount that you can donate $10, $50, $100 etc. to help me stay in school and finish my LAST YEAR would be more than you can ever imagine.  It all adds up and no amount is too small.

Thank you so much for reading my story, sharing my story and donating to my future.

With Much Gratitude,

Anna
