Help this baby fight cancer

Madelyn was diagnosed with a type 2 Sacrococcygral Tereatoma, which is a rare germ cell tumor located on the base of the tailbone. Madelyn was diagnosed when Vanessa was 18 weeks pregnant, monitored with ultrasound in Sacramento (180 mile round trip) once a week until she reached full gestation. At the age of 4 days old, Madelyn received her first surgery to remove the cancerous tumor. This surgery resulted in the removal of her coccyx as well.

After removal of the tumor, monthly level checks and semi annual MRIs were scheduled to monitor the AFP levels, or cancer cell levels, in her blood. Levels were moving in the right direction until her 1 year level checks showed increased AFP Cancer levels. This was confirmed with an MRI that found "some concerning areas". Surgery was immediately set for removal of these areas, which was performed on 3.23.18, and was then confirmed after pathology found the returned tumor to fully malignant. Family was advised that without chemotherapy the cancer cells would continue to spread and grow. Madelyn is scheduled to start 4 rounds of chemotherapy on 4.20.2018, which will be received over 3 months. Due to being so young she will need to be an inpatient at U.C Davis during her treatments.

Vanessa has been off of work to be with her baby since the surgery and she will remain off of work to stay with Madelyn during this terrible time. The state of California will only pay out for 6 weeks of family medical leave, giving the family 1 income to live on for the bulk of the treatments. Devin has not had the ability to leave work to be with his family during this, trying to work full time as well as look after their son Kaeson. He will continue to work during this time, going to Davis to visit on his days off.
