Help Theo keep his leg!

Theo is my 10 week old purebred Doberman Pinscher puppy. I got Theo with the intention of training him as my assistance dog, to pick things up off the floor and hand them to me, turn on switches, open and close doors, even pull and guide my wheelchair on long trips etc. I've got disabilities, amputations and deformeties as a result of contracting meningococcal meningitis septicemia as an infant.

Theo's shoulder was unfortunately fractured during his birth, as he got stuck in the birth canal the only way he could survive the birth was to be pulled. This resulted in a fracture to his shoulder, which in turn caused him to carry his leg back in such a way to ease pain. As a result, while his fracture was healing, Theo didn't use his right front leg properly, so the tendons haven't stretched and grown the way they did in his other front leg. Put simply, he can't currently straighten his knee joint.

Theo's shoulder is no longer the problem. It's now the fact that his shorter than normal ligaments are making it impossible for him to extend his 'knee' joint and use his leg! Theo needs surgery to lengthen his ligaments so that he can use his leg like he desperately wants to and tries to! The surgery needs to happen sooner rather than later so that his legs can develop at the same rate! Theo is such a sweet pup, he has a gentle loving demeanor and I feel that he can make an amazing companion and assistance dog. I'm so excited for him to have use of his leg and to achieve so much in his life!

Please help us to save Theo's leg, if the surgery is left too late, he will have to have it amputated or have more extensive surgery.

We have an amazing vet, who did the surgery for $1300, and if Theo's limb saving surgery isn't successful he'll amputate for free. However this cost doesn't include follow up treatment, Theo needs to see the vet every week for 6 weeks following his surgery, so this amount will increase depending on how everything goes!! Even a $5 donation would help amazingly!
