Campaign Story
I was born and raised in Lima, Peru, an amazingly beautiful country that has never lost its cultural traits despite the many challenging years lived through terrorism and poverty. This country is full of extraordinary generous and welcoming people whose motto has always been to help one another regardless of how little you might have. We have a saying: "donde comen 3, comen 4" (if 3 people can eat, so can 4) and Peruvians live by it.
Today, I would like to ask for your help. Information about the devastating flooding in Peru has been broadcasted all over the international news the last couple days. Most of the people affected by this disaster were already living under very poor conditions and many have now lost everything, putting them out in the streets to wait for donations and government support. There are nearly 72,000 people around the country that have been displaced due to the flooding, mudslides, and continuing heavy rain.
My entire family still lives in Peru. I am the only one living abroad in the U.S. Our plan is to lead a fundraising campaign THIS WEEK to collect as much as we can so that we can buy food supplies, blankets, medicine and clothing. We will work with my mom's church La Parroquia Sagrado Corazon de Jesus en Magdalena del Mar with the priest Rolando Ramos Guija. 100% of the donations will be given to the church for proper distribution among the most affected areas in Lima and Piura.
No donation is too small, every cent counts! Please open your hearts to support me in this campaign and support the thousands of people whose lives have been shattered by this natural disaster.
Mil gracias!
Karina
Mila gracias!
Karina
