The government of Greece has decided to put a lock on our University department by the end of March and we need money for transportation so we can protest.
The University of Patras has repeatedly declined our petition to support our Department with professional members with the excuse of lack of money. The Dean is constantly avoiding our righteous call for professional rights of Environmental Engineers, due to the fact that the environmental branch is monopolized by Political engineers that have no sufficient curriculum to justify their knowledge of Environmental management and engineering. On the other hand our Department of Environmental management and natural resources has a full 5 year curriculum consisting of a plethora of classes and laboratories completely based on environmental engineering.
The Technical Chamber of Greece is refusing to rename our department to Environmental Engineering for the same reason that the University of Patras has declined our many petitions for professional rights. Without the approval of the Dean, the Technical Chamber has no power to rename or include our department to the branch of Environmental Engineers.
Our Department has always been an experiment on the hands of the Dean and local businesses and has never been provided with proper funding, professional members or professional rights. Now more than even we need to push the Government to keep our Department alive and take full responsibility for our future.
