I have been going on holiday to Samos for many years. It's a truly beautiful island in Greece and is a place close to my heart. When I visited in July 2015 there was a noticeable difference. Samos amongst other Greek Islands has become a gateway into Europe for thousands of refugees. Many Syrian people arrive daily by boat, making the dangerous journey by sea from Turkey. The majority of these people cannot swim and often do not have the safety of a life jacket. I was in Samos for two weeks and saw refugees arriving daily; families with young children who have risked there lives to escape their war torn country. These people arrive with very little and there is limited shelter for them when they arrive in Samos. I want to raise funds for them to make their arrival into Samos as easy and comfortable as possible, to provide supplies of nappies, blankets, water and even toys for the children. The money I raise will go directly to volunteer a at the Archipelagos marine institute who have been working hard to provide much needed supplies and help the refugees. Please help if you can and remember that the people who have escaped have done so became they want a chance at a better life. Thank you
