Bicol is the home of Mayon Volcano. For many of you who do not know its location, it is the southern part of Luzon, Philippines. This week has been especially hard on Bicolanos - getting hit with not one but TWO typhoons.
Typhoon Quinta roared through on the night of October 26th, leaving the people without electricity for about three days. After suffering typhoon Quinta, Bicol was hardly hit by Super Typhoon Rolly category 5, in the morning of October 31st reaching fatal winds up to 310kph (190mph). Many home were completely flooded and civilians were left stranded in their homes or their roofs. Many had their houses ripped apart by the treacherous wind. And some lost their families and livestock. Some have said that “God is good because the super typhoon hit during the morning. If it came in the midst of the night, everyone would have been submerged in their sleep”.
Philippine Red Cross chairman and senator Richard Gordon said in a statement "this typhoon has smashed into people's lives and livelihoods on top of the relentless physical, emotional and economic toll of COVID-19".
We are reaching out to everybody. We are asking for everyones prayers. With the pandemic and getting their homes ripped away, any amount of donations can reach many many families. The money will be put towards food, water and other necessities that victims might need.
Thank you so much.
