name : fatima , a 8 years old girl from dhaka City, Bangladesh . She is the 5th and youngest daughter of Jermelyn Tuazon with a rare genetic condition. She has been diagnosed with Childhood (ALL) Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. It’s a type of cancer in which the bone marrow makes too many immature lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell) that affects red & white blood cells and platelets. This type of cancer usually gets worse quickly if it is not treated. Last November 2, she was rushed to the hospital due to shortness of breathing. She was admitted with a diagnosis of Pediatric Community Acquired Pneumonia-C. Doctors requested for blood test and made red and white blood transfusions to treat the blood abnormalities that made her weak. Blood platelets were down, and the body was getting weaker everyday. For a week she showed symptoms that made the doctors suspects Acute Leukemia. Doctors requested for Bone Marrow aspiration and the biopsy confirmed the diagnosis. The doctors in University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center (UERMMMC) recommended chemotherapy as soon as possible that she was endorsed to stay in the hospital while undergoing chemotherapy. Our family is currently striving hard to fund the treatment but unable to produce funds to cover her medical expenses. We will be needing P500,000+ (SG$13,000+) to cover the medical bills and continue the maintenance treatment for her body to face daily activities. Learning that a child has cancer is upsetting, and cancer treatment can be stressful for any family.
