HELP THE FORGOTTEN SURVIVORS OF LOMBOCK EARTHQUAKE: Housing Recovery & Post-Traumatic Mental Health Relief Intervention for Kids

Update posted by Juliette Vaudron On Dec 24, 2018

Last week I went to the area called Obel Obel where Mikael as been working for a few months. Here is what I saw, amongst the gravels, broken asbestos and half standing houses, were the most generous and welcoming souls I have met. Of course their were some weird looks and judgement of "who is this white woman coming and watching us for ?", but once my intentions to help where understood what an overwhelming response I received.

When I arrived in the village of Bolbouro, Mikael was working in collaboration with a local master builder named Wildan and his team, finishing to build a house for this beautiful old lady. Mikael and Wildan both shared the cost for an approximate of $550.

When this house was done, Mikael brought me to the next village, Medas where he had already bouhgt the material to build a new house for this hundred years old couple.

When we arrive we saw with great surprise that the roof was already up Thanks to the initiative of Samahudine, the neighbour of the couple!

I was able to buy the material for the foundation and cement of the floor with your kind donations.

We stayed their a few days, lived, shared food and laughter and when the material finally arrived we shared our sweat too! when we left they were ready to put up the walls of the house! to give you a realistic idea of the budget needed to build such a simple dwelling without the government helps it cost in total an approximate of AU$600. Most of it came from Mikael's fundraising. But the facebook fundraising he created has come to an end so we really need you to keep helping and donating to our cause .

Furthermore I have made a budget of what i will need to implement my Trauma healing programme,

First to paint a mural with the kids, it will cost me about AU$200/ school

Second to print the PTSD screening and relief booklet for teachers, I am still looking for the best price and a descent traducteur ... WORK IN PROCESS

Their is so many people experiencing heavy trauma ! Let me Help them at least as best as I can, I have met so many gorgeous little kids that are going by and smiling despite the heaviness of their situation, some orphans who are care for by the community or simply little bright spark like Willi so full of love that unexpectedly goes heal for no apparent reason from one day to the next !
