Campaign Story
We were visiting our family in Batangas, Philippines when the eruption started on 12 January. The alert level for the Taal Volcano was raised to level 4 and more then 160,000 people were displaced and moved to evacuee centers outside of the danger zone. This number does not include evacuees who opted to stay with relatives and friends.
Evacuation centers are very often schools but also other community buildings. As part of relief we decided to provide food and coordinated with officials where this was most required. We were told about a more remote hamlet, Paraiso where evacuees just arrived who didn’t receive aid yet. We drove with our car loaded with soup and porridge to Paraiso and distributed the food.
it was very touching to see that we were not the only people providing help and how the people receiving aid could still smile in their typical Filipino fashion
we are back in Singapore now but feel we need to do more. Not just short term relief since this could take a while. We decided to focus on the children, to provide them with school materials. We would really appreciate any support you could provide through us. We will make sure that the funds will be used directly under our supervision without any middle man.
Warm regards,

Quick update
Update posted by Taco Van Veen at 11:28 pmLast week the alert level was lowered from level 4 to level 3. This means in practice that evacuees living between the 14 km and 7 km distance from Taal Volcano are allowed to go back. It was just yesterday, Monday 3 February, that volcanologists warned that the eruption could. . . . .
