Campaign Story
Let’s row a marathon...
On Saturday 8th May 2021, the Digital Rowmads, are challenging ourselves to row 42195 metres, on a rowing machine called RowerGuy.
We are raising money for disadvantaged children and young people in our home city, Lagos. The charity CASLAS is a non-profit association, operating a Youth Home for 55 people aged between 3 and 20 years old who are otherwise deprived of a normal family experience.
Who are we?
We are a group of fun (and a little weird ;)) friends from different countries who have made Lagos, Portugal our home. We see a rowing marathon as a great way to improve our fitness after all the Covid lockdowns, and, to contribute in a meaningful way to the place we call home.
As a team of predominantly digital nomads, our Cox came up with the name of Digital Rowmads. We thought it was genius, and it stuck :D
What does CASLAS do?
The 'Nossa Senhora do Carmo' Youth Home functions as extension of the family, seeking to respond to the needs of children and young people in fragile situations.
The Digital Rowmads feel drawn to this local endeavour in our chosen community of Lagos, to help in providing a strong base during the early years for young people so that they can live happy lives and realise their full potential.
In the words of Kofi A. Annan, Secretary-General of the United Nations "There is no task more important than building a world in which all of our children can grow up to realize their full potential, in health, peace and dignity.”

We appreciate and welcome all and any donations, the money will be paid to CASLAS by the team after 16th May. All money raised will go to CASLAS for the Nossa Senhora do Carmo Youth Home.
