Nadhirah, coming from a single-parent family, had little to no supervision at home, as her mother worked late night shifts. Her mother enrolled her at CareNights in July 2017. She was an active girl who had difficulty focusing on completing her tasks. As a result, she struggled with her studies and was failing in all her subjects.
With patience and care, the staff and volunteers at CareNights guided Nadhirah through the programme. Since then, she has seen tremendous improvement in her social-emotional learning and academics. She came in 3rd in class for her 2018 Year End Examinations and immediately sent a photo of her results to us. She is determined to press on and work hard for her PSLE this year.
CareNights is a free night care service for children from low-income families where their parents are unable to look after them at night because they need to work overtime, work night shifts, attend night classes/courses, in incarceration, or single parents who need respite. The children come to our centres from Monday to Friday, 6pm to 10pm. We provide them with dinner and structured activities to support their learning of skills and values.
Because it is a free programme, we need your support. Your kind donation will go a long way to help us to help them. Thank you.
