Help the Children and Lepers of Tala

We are helping 1,500 children led by Father Arturo Arnaiz.

500 of them are homeless, we scattered them to different families for shelter but they go to Tala Center everyday to be fed. We also send them to school. Another 500 are children of unwed or single parents living a life in extreme poverty and they are suffering from all kinds of sickness ( 50 have Hydrocephalus, 10 with cerebral palsy, and some with special concerns like deformation upon birth ). The other 500 are deaf children and street children. The children are ages from 2 to 9 years old.

Aside from those 1,500 children, we also help Lepers. They are old people already and they are abandoned by their families. They are a combination of blind, crippled and bedridden old people because of leprosy. They are already cured but since they have no more place to stay and family to go to, they stayed in Tala Hospital but the DOH stopped giving them the food ration since last year and for a year now we feed them 3x a day.

Father Art ( Arturo Arnaiz ) had been making a lot of advocacy to the Philippine government about their situation but their reply is the same that they have no after care program for them.

Father Art and the rest of the volunteers have been fighting for this mission but it is sad that people have turned their backs on them and what is more sad is that the Church are also abandoning them.

Father Art has been sustaining this for 6 years now. This is still a ministry but we are trying to make his into a foundation called SPREAD FOUNDATION (SPREAD stands for Special Program on Relevant Engagement and Advocacy for the Displaced) so that we can ask help from other funding agencies or sponsors for the children and the lepers.

Father Art has been saving for this accreditation for for the last 6 years however the money on-hand is just 800,000 Pesos and still did not reach the Seed Fund requirement yet which is 1 Million Pesos.

We are raising against time now because the church wants Father Art to stop feeding those children and lepers ASAP but we can't bear to abandon those children and lepers who needs help. The only way for this mission to continue is to turn this into a foundation which the need of the remaining 200, 000 Pesos money remaining for the accreditation requirement needs to be achieved so that we can turn this ministry into a foundation as soon as possible.
