Help Terry Greenslit!

The week of Christmas and New Years is a time of celebration -- although it is cold and grey, it is a time that to enjoy, and reflect on blessings.

The week of Christmas 2018, this was not the case for Mr. Terry Greenslit. Terry kept what little items he did have to his name in a storage unit. The unit was large enough to hold his vehicle, all of his tools (saws, saw tables, HVAC equipment, specialized equipment, etc.) that he needed to work and make ends meet.

The most important thing in the shed, however, was a box of priceless photographs/letters/birthday cards, etc of his daughter, Shannon S. He had hid the box so it would be safe from being mutilated by individuals who had already destroyed many sentimental items to cause hurt. On this life altering evening, Terry had gone into the shed to tend to the wood burning stove being used for heat. As he was walking back into the kitchen, minutes later, Brenda K looked through the kitchen window and saw the shed engulfed in flames.

Everything was lost. His means to work, his transportation, equipment...and the hidden box of memories. Despite firefighters attempting to hold him back, he ran into the flames with the hope of recovering his priceless memories....but it was too late, and they too had been destroyed.

Like many of us, Terry was already working himself to death so that he could afford to eat. There are some things that he had to go without, simply because there was no way to afford them. One of these luxuries is decent insurance.

We all have felt this pain at some point, and if you haven't, brace yourself...the value that insurance puts on your property is not nearly enough to replace them - much like car dealerships who want you to trade in your car.

Terry is a hardworking, caring, generous person, and his family has equal integrity. They have never turned down anyone in need, myself included. For 20+ years, I have witnessed them open their homes to people who could never afford to pay them anything, lend all of the money that they had in their name with good faith being the only collateral, show an astonishing amount of patience and love for those who weren't very lovable, and help without having any second thoughts.

They have been a second family to me, and more than a hundred times over earned karma credit. I hope you can join me in this opportunity to reflect back all the love and support that they have shown others.

In the month of Feb, I am asking for donations to help rebuild Terry's life. Because the SUV and all of his tools were destroyed, he has no way of bringing in any income to afford groceries, medications, bills, etc. I have set the goal at $2500, and every single donation will be appreciated in a way that words cannot express. And, if you are unable to donate monetarily, a share or a like will help out tremendously!
