The Help teachers rebuild Gimnazija Sisak!
100-year-old high school, which celebrated its jubilee last year, was seriously damaged in the devastating earthquake of magnitude 6.4 Mw that happened on December 29th 2020 and severely damaged Gimnazija Sisak, Croatia. The earthquake caused devastating damage to the Cities of Sisak, Petrinja and Glina, as well as the surrounding area. The epicentre was 3 km west-southwest of Petrinja and it seriously damaged the majority of buildings and houses in the whole area. There have been dozens of quakes (ranging from 1.5 to 4.9 Mw) every day, which are continuing to make more and more damage. Official reports state that up to now, more than 900 subsequent earthquakes followed. The static experts visited the school and declared it unsafe because it needs urgent intervention, which left our 400 students, and their teachers without their classrooms. Unfortunately, the school doesn't have the money required for adapting and rebuilding. Therefore, we ask for your help.
The most severe damage is on the roof, where also parts of the walls have fallen to the ground. The chimneys were also knocked down and need to be replaced. Most of the partition walls are damaged. Due to the ongoing subsequent trembling of the ground, the damage continues to spread. We, teachers, have decided to put all abilities into this campaign to rebuild a new, and even better school. Upon completion of the crowdfunding campaign, all funds raised will be paid into the donation account for Gimnazija Sisak and will be used to renovate the school.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSvZhrpIVng
