Help Teacher Letty’s Heart Operation

Leticia Opon is a loving mother to her six children and a dedicated elementary teacher for more than 30 years. On the other hand, her husband works as a tricycle driver. She lives in Panugnawan, Medellin, a barangay located in the northern part of Cebu, Philippines. She is best describe by her colleagues as a soft-spoken and kind-hearted person. Despite her smiles, there lies a condition that she has been enduring for 11 years now. She has been suffering from exertional dyspnea or difficulty in breathing for years. But despite her illness, that did not stop her passion for teaching even in the new normal.

And as the symptoms progress over time, she was diagnosed with rheumatic heart disease. With that, she needs to have one of her heart valves replaced for normal heart function. The procedure to be done is Mitral Valve Repair and Tricuspid Annuloplasty.

Because of her condition being too life-threatening, last March 03, 2021, the operation is performed. She has now confined in the Intensive care unit of Perpetual Succour, one of the hospitals in Cebu City. Due to a lack of financial capabilities, it is hard for the family to settle the hospital bills and the after-care treatments. As of this writing, they are now getting charged with an amount of 632,273.27 pesos. As someone who wants to help, I do not want to see my friend carry all the responsibility for her mom's recovery, so I decided to step in and started this fundraising page to knock on your hearts.
