My name is Tatya, I am 22 years old. I have just graduated from my Architecture degree in Melbourne, Australia and currently working part-time as a barista and kitchen hand.
Long before I came to Australia, I have dreamt of being an architect, and decided to pursue that dream by getting my higher education in Melbourne. This was mainly because my home country does not provide an Architecture degree, in any of the limited universities we have. So I have been here for 4 years, studying as hard as I can and now I wish to continue living here for another 2 years, just to start my career before moving back home.
Australia has such a rich architectural history, and I have barely scratched the surface in exploring the industry here. It would've been easier to live at home, where my family is, and where the cost of living is not high. But the main reason why I cannot go back home right now, is because unfortunately, my home country has one of the highest unemployment rates in South East Asia. Many new graduates will be heading home with little to no chance of quickly landing a job as the market is too small there. There is not enough positions to offer to young graduates, whether in the government or private sector, leaving most of them unemployed and unable to start their career in their chosen field.
I do not want this to be me. I have not depended on my parents in terms of money, for quite a while now. I have worked hard to pay my rent and bills, and university expenses while pursuing my degree. If I go home now I would just be another mouth to feed. I want to be able to continue to support myself and not be dependent on either of my parents in terms of money. Now that I am done, I would need a Temporary Graduate Visa, in order to stay here and gain experience in the field before moving on to other countries that have rich architectural knowledge to offer.
The visa itself is AUD1650, but because my passport is not from the UK, US, NZ or CAN, I still have to take an English test (even though it is my first language) which costs AUD330. On top of that I would also need to buy a new health insurance. Given that my parents cannot help me much on paying this visa, I would need the help of you kind and generous people, to help me continue my dream in Melbourne. Please donate whatever you can, and even if you cannot, share my cause to people you think can help me. Every little penny would count.
Thanks for reading my cause :D
