In June 2017, President John Magufuli of Tanzania upheld a 2002 law that banned pregnant school girls from returning to school after giving birth. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-40379113

An estimated 8,000 girls drop out of school every year due to pregnancy. Human Rights Watch found that school officials conduct regular compulsory pregnancy tests an abusive and discriminatory practice. In most cases, girls are not allowed to re-enroll after their children are born.

According to the report ( 2013) from the center for reproductive rights (CRR) more than 55,000 Tanzania school girls have been expelled from school over the last decade for being pregnant. Some wealthier families have been managing to send their daughters to private schools but the majority end up looking for casual work or other alternatives.

A team lead by me (Godwin Zimba) have decided to take action to rescue these teenage parents from the shackles of discrimination and rejection. We have started working as BEST HOPE TANZANIA which after registration will focus on the teenage parents, orphans as well as HIV Infected widows. Because of this ban by the current government most teenage parents have lost their future dreams to become Engineers, doctors, Entrepreneurs, teachers, Scientist, lawyers, political leader etc.

Most of these girls have been engaging in casual work, prostitution and in most cases they have been abandoning their newborn babies and in some instances they have been committing suicide. The country has been losing our very valuable future generation.

BEST HOPE TANZANIA have decided to take immediate action towards helping these beautiful young parents and their newborns.

SOLUTION -

BEST HOPE TANZANIA (after registration) will complete the set up of an online school platform (e-SHULE / e- SCHOOL) this platform will be free for all the expelled teenage girls. We will propose to the Tanzanian government to allow the members of the online school to attend National Exams. BEST HOPE TANZANIA will start teaching self employment skills to the teenage parents. Initially the plan is to start with FISH FARMING MOBILE TRAINING COURSES and then MOTORCYCLE REPAIR COURSES which will help them to be able to start MOTORCYCLE GARAGES as well as Motorcycle parts shops. BEST HOPE TANZANIA believes the above initial action will help to decrease the possibility of the girls to loose hope since they will be able to earn income from the skills they get. Consequently the number of the teenage parents turning into prostitution will decrease. Their will also be a decrease in the number of reports on the abandoned newborn babies since the mothers will be able to earn income and take care of the babies. The number of suicides cases from these young mums will decrease as well. WHY WE NEED DONATIONS - In order to qualify for donors support we are required to register an NGO and operate for at least one year with excellent record. However the process of registration and starting operations requires us to have a number of items available. (1) Laptop (used) $300 (2) Motorcycle $1000 (3) Projector & Screen $650 (4) Tool box $300 (5) Venues per year $ 1600 (6) Used vehicle $6,000 (7) Printer $250 (8) Photocopy $1500 (9) Office space $1300 per year. TOTAL = US$12,900 , ALL THE REPORTS USING MANGO / HUMENTUM resources budgeting forecasting and reporting will be used to update every one who took part to help these beautiful kids! Thanks
