On the 8th of April 2020 my sister Tania Layton was in a major motor vehicle accident in which she sustained a severe spinal as well as other injuries. This has left her partially paralyzed from the waist down. She has undergone 2 surgeries which has brought some feeling back in the upper leg area, however the nerves responsible for the movement from the knees down have shown no response and she will require ongoing rehabilitation and physio therapy in the hope of recovering some form of mobility.
Tania has recently gone through a traumatic divorce and has 2 children aged 4 and 10 who are her life. Due to this she is unfortunately not on a medical aid and nor does she have funds available to cover any of the current or ongoing medical expenses that are to be incurred. She is currently still in hospital and upon discharge we are trying to raise funds in order for her to be able to be transferred to a rehabilitation facility to give her as much a chance for the best recovery as possible with her current condition.
Tania is 34 with her whole life ahead of her and her children. She is an ambitious woman and a very doting and loving mother that just wants to get back to her children whom due to the current National Lockdown imposed in order to curb the impact of the worldwide pandemic have been unable to have any contact with her children and family members.
Getting Tania in the rehabilitation facility will Tania the best opportunity for a faster recovery and be able to be back with her children and family sooner. However, the costs involved for Tania's rehabilitation and other expenses will amount to +/- R250 000 per month and her doctor has recommended rehabilitation in this facility for at least 3 to 4 months.
We are opening up to the public as we have no other choice and hope that you can open your hearts and please support our cause no matter how big or small, any contribution is highly appreciated.
