Throughout the three precious weeks that she has been in the world Talia has touched so many people with her constant and unwavering strength. Talia has been forced to face so many challenges throughout this time with the latest being meningitis but still she fights with determination making everyone around her so proud and humbled by what a tiny little girl can achieve .

Talia‘s parents Gemma and Rudal have been constantly by her side mirroring their daughters strength and are still awaiting answers to many questions and tests around what future challenges she may face.

We have set up this page to help raise money for Talia and any care she may need over the coming months . Her parents would also like to be able to thank Frimley Neonatal Intensive Care Unit by way of a donation for all the incredible care that they provide not only daily to Talia but all the other babies so close to our community .

A message from Talia’s mummy ....

Ignorance is bliss....20 weeks pregnant I skipped into the antenatal department at Frimley excited to see my baby girl on screen at her developmental scan. Three weeks previous we had found out we had been blessed with a little girl to join our crazy bunch of boys. We were high on life deciding on names and guessing how our little girl would look. Unknown to us our lives were about to change.

At the scan we were told our daughter had a cleft lip and palate and her heart had several defects. Devastation hit as we quickly realised our angel was in danger. We were sent to St. George's hospital the next morning where we were scanned for hours and informed in detail of her heart defects and cleft issues. We cried solidly throughout the day as reality hit; our baby girl could be born with several health problems and already faced a life of challenges and surgeries. We drew strength from family and friends and after tests came back clear for common syndromes related to her cleft diagnosis we knew she was sent to us for a reason.

Regular scans and monitoring throughout pregnancy brought ups and downs and at 33 weeks we were told she may need heart surgery at birth due to a suspected narrowed aorta. A day to meet our girl was set, I was to be induced in St. George's on the 11th October 2018.

Shouting on the sideline at my sons football game, I noticed our baby girl wasn't joining in as she usually did. I hadn't felt her kick for sometime and luckily I decided to get it checked out. Strapped up to monitors we were told she had a sleepy heartbeat and I would be meeting my little girl that day. At 37 weeks I still wasn't ready to see her little face, I hadn't prepared myself for the results that would follow her arrival.

Our darling Talia was born on the 7th of October via emergency c-section. Her heart had stopped as they broke my waters and we were rushed to theatre to quickly bring her into the world. Talia was born unresponsive, we didn't hear her cry as she entered our lives, we just heard doctors rushing around in panic. We didn't get to see her squidgy face and body, instead we watched the concerned faces of the specialists around us. We didn't get to hold our beautiful baby girl, instead we clung to each other praying she'd make it. It took 8 minutes to resuscitate our beautiful angel.

Talia was quickly rushed to intensive care where they began a process called cooling to minimise any damage to the brain caused by her stressful birth. Accompanied by Daddy she was transported to St. Peter's hospital Chertsey, where they continued to closely monitor her. Being apart from my new born baby was soul destroying. I was unable to join her for 24 hours and the pictures dal sent hourly broke every part of me. She was so tiny and helpless and I was miles away from her, unable to hold her or comfort her.

Love at first sight - finally seeing my precious girl was bitter sweet. Covered in wires from her head to her toes I couldn't believe this little treasure was going through so much already. I sobbed like I'd never sobbed before. As the cooling continued we found strength in her resilience.

Since Talia has been trasferred back to NICU at Frimley she has faced many challenges including infections and most recently meningitis which in true Tally style she continues to fight . We are still awaiting so many results as to what challenges lie ahead but at this uncertain time in our lives we cannot thank the doctors and nurses enough for their care , compassion and love that they have shown our daughter and family .
