Can you help our furry four-legged friends?

Covid-19 is impacting many lives, and not just of people. Worldwide quarantines have essentially shut off our arctic island from the rest of the world. With it, Svalbard's dog yards now find themselves with no visitors, and hence no income to support their dogs, who still need food, exercise, and looking after, and to whom we have not been able to explain the strange and surreal situation we all find ourselves in.

Our local dog yards and our dogs need your help, so they can still be around when things get back to some sort of new normal, when our island can once again welcome people.

Around 600 sled dogs call Svalbard home. 10 nok (1 euro) is roughly the cost to feed 1 dog for 1 day up here.

You can donate via PayPal or debit/credit card directly through this site.

For those in Norway preferring to use Vipps, you can send your donations to 48286296.

All donations will be divided between our local dog yards in Longyearbyen who have been pleading for help. Visit their websites to find out more about them!

Me & my fluffy hiking buddy Tequila would like to inspire any dog lovers out there to raise some funds, by hiking a marathon in our arctic backyard - the snowy mountain tops that surround our town of Longyearbyen. We will keep you updated on our polar adventure through photos and videos, to share with you the experience of life on this curious island next to the north pole - on Friday 22st of May (or any day after that in which weather and terrain conditions are safe and suitable). Hopefully, we’ll have a nice midnight sun, as it will be a looong walk..

Fundraiser Hike Log - Part 2 !

Update posted by Martin Fiala at 03:53 pm

and here it is, part two of our arctic adventures :)Leaving the town once more, Nordenskioldfjellet rises in front us. Contrary to the forecast, there are no clouds or snowfall up there. The peak is glistening in the sun. Good. That looks promising. We are leaving at probably the worst. . . . .

Update posted by Martin Fiala at 07:42 pm

The hike is over! Apologies but it has been tricky to put any updates here during the actual hike as I originally planned, and then we spent the last two days recovering..In the end, we hiked 46 kilometers, spread over 38 grueling hours with no sleep, on account of quite. . . . .

Update posted by Martin Fiala at 06:32 pm

So yesterday me a Tequila had a little warm up stroll up to the glacier behind town to see what we're in for. A bit of a blizzard, Rather slushy snow, but doable. I'll definitely pack a pair of snowshoes and spare socks.. For a short clip of our hike,
