Hi, my name is Tiffany and this is my sister-in-law Suzeth. She is currently living in Dubai, U.A.E with my brother.
The whole thing started as a blurred vision on her right eye and felt like there was a light that covered her sight. She went to an Ophthalmologist February 2020 to get her eyes checked but the doctor suggested to see a Retinal doctor instead. Due to covid and the lockdown, she was not able to get a schedule right away and had a hard time finding a retinal specialist.
By the month of May 2020, she finally found a retinal special and had her eye checked at once. The doctor said that she needed to have a retinal detachment surgery to save her vision. Unfortunately, the operation was unsuccessful because they weren't able to re-attach the retina in her eye, it was too late. The doctor said that her eye would shrink after some time but instead it swelled up and she was in so much pain.
It took her a few months to have it checked due to financial problems. Eventually, she notices dark spots building in her right eye. It swelled so much and the black spot grew bigger. By December, a good friend of ours that is a doctor, referred Suzeth to a hospital in Abu Dhabi, where she was confined right away. The doctors performed different kinds of tests and advised that her eye had to be removed totally. It was a successful second operation and was advised that she needed to get well soon so they can put a prosthetic eye. After a week, Suzeth received a call from the doctor who did her operation to deliver the news that the black tissues that was found in her eye is Melanoma Skin Cancer.
We were all shocked and did not know how to respond. She thought that everything was going well because the operation was successful but this is something we all definitely did not expect. The doctor advised to go to an Oncologist for further examination and to perform a PET scan. The results came in and they said that the cancer has already spread to her right leg bone, right hip bone and the spine. At the moment, we are waiting for the approval of her insurance so she can start the radio treatment asap.
The reason that I'm asking for help is because the following treatments that she needs will not be covered by the insurance company anymore since her company visa will soon expire by April 2021. Any amount will do, big or small it will be a big help for her treatments. I know it has been a tough year for everyone because of the pandemic but we really want Suzeth to get better and live a longer life. Thank you if you have read this far. I'm not even sure how this works but I had to try.
Thank you very much.
