Help Support the Home for the Golden Gays

Home for the Golden Gays is a non-profit organization. It was established in the mid 1970’s by LGBT rights activist and columnist Justo Justo. He founded a care facility in Pasay for the elderly and homeless gays. At the time of his death in 2012, The Home for the Golden Gays was forcibly closed. Majority of the original members are now living on the streets without families or a proper source of income in their old age.

Right now, one of their members, Lola Rica, was involved in a hit-and-run accident last September 22. She was walking late night in Guadalupe when a cab driver ran her over and just left her. The bones on her right shin were broken, and now they need to perform a surgery on her to insert titanium steel onto her legs.

They've received help from several organizations to lessen the cost for the surgery but it's not enough.

Lola Rica, like most of the lolas at Golden Gays, has no family of her own. The only people taking care of her now are the other Lolas at Golden Gays, and even the help they provide all come out of their own pockets only.

Right now they're in need of just 25,000.00 to help get Lola Rica through the surgery, but we're trying to raise 50,000.00 at least to help for post-surgery care and medication. If we can get more to help fund their organization in the future, that would be best, as the ultimate goal would be really to help the lolas find a permanent home.

Lola Rica is just one of the lolas there in need of immediate help, but they have around 40 active members, all senior citizens, most of whom have no family willing to care for them in their old age. In a way, they've found their own family in each other.
