Help support my mother, Helen through cancer.

At the end of October 2018, my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. I think anyone who has a loved one or friend who has had or has cancer, knows how disrupting it can be to a person's live. She went in because of back pain and thought it was her spine (She's had spine infusions before) and came home the same day with the news that she had stage 4 cancer. It caught her (and us) off guard. My mom is strong and brave and is working her way through this life challenge that she is currently faced with. Her 4th chemo session will be next week and so far she has been reacting very well to the treatment. Although we are very happy with how the chemo is going (Killing the cancer so she can have a longer, healthier life after chemo and surgery), it's not all sunshine and roses.

There are a lot of expenses regarding chemotherapy (Not only the treatment but also the lifestyle changes, special things for her hygiene, etc.) She is a Real Estate Agent for one of the biggest agencies in Pretoria and she currently cannot do her work as she usually would. Which means she doesn't have an income - Having to support herself and my youngest brother, her funds will soon run out. My eldest brother will be helping her for the rest of January, but that is also a lot of extra financial stress on him. Being our mom, we do what we can for her but before I move to Canada for 2 years, I would like to make sure that she is covered. For any uncovered for expenses that might come her way. Until she is fully recovered and ready to work again, it will financially though for her and I do not want her to stress about her finances. Being 23 only with a small income, I cannot support her in the way that I would love to. Therefore, I am asking for your help. I created this campaign because I know people have big hearts and I would like to you please open up your hearts (and wallet) to my family. Not only asking you to help us raise funds for our mom, but to also keep her in your prayers as it is a very challenging time for all of us, but mostly her. Not being able to work like she used to and do what she loves, brings her Spirit down. I think the biggest fear she has is not being able to financially be there for herself and having to count on others. She likes doing and having things herself. Therefore I hope people will help us and help our mom be stress free about where her money will be coming from for the next few months,

We are very thankful that God is holding our mom in the palm of His hands throughout this journey and making her strong. After chemo, she will have surgery and more chemo for a cancer gene that was recently found during blood tests (BRAF). Still a long journey ahead, but we know that she will fight the battle and have a healthy life afterwards because God still has big plans for her.
