My good friend from Greece, Iro, has a passion for running long-distance races and for bringing joy to little kids' lives. These days she can hardly make a living in a depression-hit economy where job opportunities are hard to come by. She works part-time as a personal trainer, and a yoga teacher, and she coordinates laughter-yoga events to scrape just enough money to support herself.
Recently, Iro has been preoccupied with a larger and far more important mission however. In April 15 2013, she is determined to run the Boston marathon to raise money to support unfortunate Greek kids who have been given out for adoption. Their numbers have swollen in recent years, and the Greek government is unable to provide shelter, food and basic hygiene for their everyday needs.
All money Iro raises from this fundraiser will be handed over to a Greek non-profit organization "The Smile of the child" that provides a home for foster children and supports their everyday needs, from buying clothes and vaccines, to maintaining their rooms and dormitories clean and healthy to live in.
Let's all help Iro, the girl with the ”Iron Will” achieve her goal. Even a small donation of $20 can go a long way in helping smiles return to these kids' faces!
