Good day! I'm Nicholas James B. Gonzales, a student in Southville International School & Colleges, and I would really love to represent the Philippines in a competition called the World Scholar's Cup ((which revolves around selected topics: Diplomacy, Black Markets, Music, Art and Literature, Science of Memory, and Human Relationships, with debates and writing prompts involving those in real-life situations, for more information visit: http://www.scholarscup.org/).
Last February 2018, I joined the regional rounds here in Manila and had qualified for the global rounds in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I have qualified in the global rounds ( winning 4 gold medals and 4 silver medals, and our team earning a gold medal for our overall scores) to represent our country in the final round of the competition, the Tournament of Champions which will be held in Yale University.
However, due to financial difficulties I may or may not be able to continue this journey and I am hoping that you will be able to change that.
I am genuinely passionate about this competition because I believe that this competitiom will be able to give way to so many opportunities, not only for me but also for my family. I also believe that this competition has given way for so many young minds to grow and develop to become real movers of society who will definitely make a difference in the future. Also, this isn't really a competition, I found it to be a celebration of knowledge where people from all different backgrounds can meet and discuss various topics or social issues.
I want to be able to reach the end of this journey and I hope that these financial setbacks will not hold me back from reaching it.
