I am Sündüz based in Sinop Turkey. An animal rights activist and a volunteer spending a significant amount of time helping street cats and dogs in my region with my four year old daughter. You can follow my work on Instagram page @sinop_dikmen_canlarim.
There are countless street cats and dogs here. I am the only one with limited means, time and resources trying to save these animals. The nearest decent veterinary clinic is about 2 hours drive from me.
I rely heavily on food donations to be able to feed the cats and dogs on a daily basis. Otherwise, they go hungry. In the absence of food donations, I try to feed them with bread or ask restaurants to give their leftovers, but it’s never enough.
In addition to feeding, I organise treatment for sick or injured and try to find homes, but there is no culture of fostering or adoption unless someone helps me adopting out abroad.
More importantly, I try to raise funds to spay and neuter. Doesn’t matter how much I feed, treat or home, there is endless number of animals in need of help. Spaying and neutering is the only solution to help reduce the number of animals being born into a life of misery.
I am always looking to raise funds to:
- Feed cats and dogs
- Treat sick and injured ones, mainly veterinary and transportation costs. I always owe money to clinics.
- Spaying and neutering. My current aim is to spay all the female dogs first.
- Please help spread the word and donate whatever amount you can. Your contribution will help me feed, treat, spay and neuter more animals in desperate need of help in this part of the world.
Whatever you choose to donate, I sincerely thank you on behalf of the animals in Sinop. Every little bit counts!
